Kindergarten Computer Science and Robotics
10/03/2019 - 12/12/2019 TH, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Students will build robots and learn to code in a fun, supportive environment! Students learn to build robots using Robo Robo Kid robot kits - Lego-compatible bricks plus sensors, motors, and a CPU. Programming the robots is as simple as swiping a card in a card reader. Students learn to code on the robots, with online game-based curriculum and with unplugged activities. Students will learn to program using commands like loops and events. Students learn to collaborate with others meaningfully, investigate different problem-solving techniques, persist in the face of difficult tasks, and learn about internet safety.
Part of each class will be devoted to teaching life skills, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
Each student is required to buy or rent a robot kit from Build-a-Robot. Buying a robot allows students to bring the robot home between classes and keep at the end of the session. Renting a robot allows students to use the robot kits during classes.
