Middle School Computer Science: Interactive Games and Animations

09/16/2019 - 12/11/2019 W, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Through this program, the Interactive Games and Animations unit of code.org, students build on their coding experience as they create programmatic images, animations, interactive art, and games. Starting off with simple, primitive shapes and building up to more sophisticated sprite-based games, students become familiar with the programming concepts and the design process computer scientists use daily. They then learn how these simpler constructs can be combined to create more complex programs. In the final project, students develop a personalized, interactive program. Along the way, they practice design, testing, and iteration, as they come to see that failure and debugging are an expected and valuable part of the programming process.

As a homeschool family, we really appreciate the versatility and flexibility of the teachers and staff. They really encourage children to explore their own creativity. RoboRobo classes also have some unique advantages as the students can see the inner workings of the hardware and circuitry with what they are building. Excellent classes for tech driven kids.

We love Build-A-Robot! We have two elementary students who have attended since it opened. It's been such an amazing place for them to grow in their building skills and knowledge of coding. Not only that, they learn about working with others, presenting their work, and problem solving skills. We highly recommend Build-a-Robot to the community!

This is the best education center where a student can learn about the fundamental skills of engineering and STEM while having much fun. I have been going here for a year, and I think that I have learned a lot. I've also made many new friends. The teachers here are very supportive of everybody, and they don't put limits on a student's creativity. There is also a variety of things students learn, such as rasberry pi, HTML, 3d printers and, ETC., and we leave knowing many things. This center is great, and I highly recommend anybody interested to come.

5 Stars +++ My 8 year old son loves the classes he has taken at Build-A-Robot. I have watched some of his classes and the teachers are so amazing at keeping the kids engaged, learning and having fun. The owner is super responsive to parents. I would highly recommend this place.

My daughter (going to middle school) attended a week-long summer camp here and had a great time. She was able to learn some basic robotics and coding and then built her own music box as the final project on the last day. She was proud of her project and brought it to show off at a friend's place. She's attended other coding classes but was never that interested in them. This class was different, allowing more creativity, rather than just following some exercises.
